Bitcoin ETF demand exceeds miner output, or it may trigger a supply shock

CoinMeta data: According to Coinpaper, when the demand for Bitcoin ETF exceeds the production of miners, it may trigger a shock to the Bitcoin supply. Bitcoin miners produce approximately 450 Bitcoins per day, while ETF can attract more funds in a single trading day and purchase several times that amount of Bitcoins. Although the demand ETF exceeds the newly mined supply, Bitcoin will not automatically become unavailable, nor will its price necessarily soar. To understand this phenomenon, it is necessary to consider how new Bitcoins enter circulation, where ETF obtain Bitcoins, and the importance of existing holders. The mining supply of Bitcoin follows a predetermined schedule; after the halving in April 2024, miners are expected to receive 3.125 Bitcoins for each successfully mined block. Assuming a certain ETF obtains a net inflow of $450 million when the Bitcoin trading price is $90,000, this is equivalent to 5,000 Bitcoins, which exceeds the new mined supply for 11 days. The continuous purchasing by ETF may put upward pressure on prices, especially if existing holders are unwilling to sell.
