Coinbase CEO Armstrong: Accuses reports of being inaccurate, supports regulations for crypto regulation
2026-09-19 12:59:23
According to CoinMeta, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that The Wall Street Journal is preparing a report that blames Clarity for the failure of the bill to pass, attributing it to Coinbase and himself. He mentioned that in January of this year, he opposed submitting the draft for committee voting because it contained significant issues regarding DEFI, tokenization, the authority of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and stablecoin incentives, which could harm the crypto industry. Armstrong claimed that after collaborating with various parties, these four issues were addressed in the draft approved by the committee about four months later. He emphasized his strong support for the final version submitted to the Senate and stated that he will continue to push for clear and fair crypto regulatory rules. At the same time, he criticized The Wall Street Journal's report for repeating the arguments of banking lobby groups.
