Bloomberg: Hackers Use Open-Source AI to Implant Malicious Instructions on the Chain, with Cases Surging by 440%

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, a blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis has released a report indicating that hackers are increasingly using open-source artificial intelligence AI to implant malware control instructions into on-chain transactions and smart contracts. The number of such cases has surged by approximately 440% in less than a year. Data shows that the frequency of these incidents has risen from about 2 per day to around 11 per day. Attackers write malicious instructions onto the blockchain to manipulate infected devices, steal passwords and funds, and transfer them to designated wallets. Since on-chain records cannot be deleted, defense and interception have become increasingly difficult. The report points out that hackers with national backgrounds such as those from North Korea and Iran have become the main forces behind such activities. Open-source models support local independent operation and modification, allowing them to bypass cloud-based defenses. However, the public and transparent nature of the blockchain also leaves crucial evidence for tracing the attack infrastructure.
