According to CoinMeta, Orlen suffered losses in crude oil transactions in Venezuela, facing a potential loss of up to $424 million. Orlen Trading Switzerland paid a prepayment of $230 million to purchase Venezuelan crude oil, but $135 million of this was only exchanged for 85 million USDT, resulting in a shortfall of $50 million. After handing over the private keys to control 132 million USDT to a broker, there was no further contact with that party, and the crude oil cargo was not delivered. Orlen only received fuel oil worth $28.8 million, with total losses estimated to be between $378 million and $424 million. The Polish prosecution has launched a criminal investigation against the management of Orlen Trading Switzerland, and Orlen has also initiated international arbitration in Dubai.
