South Korea and Japan Complete Cross-Border Payment Testing of Stablecoins
2026-09-17 12:05:51
According to CoinMeta, as reported by digital and asset, South Korea's established large insurance company Kyobo Life Insurance has completed cross-border payment tests for stablecoins with Japan's SBI group. In the Canton Network testing environment, both parties verified the direct exchange of Japanese yen stablecoins for South Korean won stablecoins without the need to convert them into US dollars first. This model is expected to reduce the foreign exchange conversion steps, time costs, and exchange rate risks in cross-border institutional fund transfers. Both parties plan to further explore cooperation in digital asset exchanges and asset management. Only test tokens were used in this test, and no actual transfer of stablecoins or institutional funds took place.
