According to CoinMeta, the Ethereum MEV bot “Yoink” successfully carried out a pre-attack on a hacker’s vulnerability worth $7.8 million, stealing all of the illicit funds. The hacker used a custom Uniswap V4 hook to attack an Ethereum whale’s Gnosis Safe wallet, unpacking aethrseth into freely transferable rseth. However, when the attack transaction entered the memory pool, Yoink detected it and executed it preferentially within the same block, capturing the entire $7.8 million in profits. The attacker was exploited, and the funds are still held by Yoink; there are no public indications that these funds will be returned. Kelp asserts that its contract is secure, and rseth remains fully protected, with all other operations functioning normally. The protocol also imposed a temporary 24-hour freeze on the address that held the stolen funds.
