According to CoinMeta, Wu said that he learned that the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York has accused two Robinhood engineers, HeFu Chai and Huaisong Xiang, of taking advantage of unpublicized information about cryptocurrency listings by the company to profit from trading the corresponding perpetual contracts through HyperLiquid before the release of the related tokens on Robinhood Crypto. The prosecution alleges that the two carried out such transactions multiple times between 2025 and 2026, illegally profiting by over $50,000 each, and they have been charged with violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and telecommunications fraud, respectively, facing up to 10 and 20 years in prison.
