Crypto News: Revolut Ransomed by Hackers for 10,000 BTC
2026-09-15 09:14:51
According to CoinMeta, Revolut recently suffered a hacker attack. The hackers obtained access to the database by impersonating government agencies and have already exposed some of the stolen KYC data, including the private information of Gamdom CEO Roma and tennis player Shevchenko. The hackers are currently demanding a ransom of 10,000 BTC, which is approximately 785.5 million US dollars, and threatening to continue leaking more data if their demands are not met. Revolut claims that the user data affected by this incident is limited, and that users' funds have not been compromised, but the leakage of KYC data may pose further risks. Analysts point out that if more data is exposed, customers could potentially have their locations traced, increasing the risk of kidnapping. This data breach highlights the urgency for the crypto industry to strengthen its security measures.
