Christine D. Kim: Bitcoin's quantum-resistant solutions are gradually taking shape
2026-09-15 09:05:30
According to CoinMeta, the founder of protocol watch, Christine D, summarized that Bitcoin's quantum-resistant solutions are gradually forming a relatively complete technical path: BIP-360 plans to reduce the risk of long-term exposure of public keys through new pay-to-merkle-root ( P2MR ) output types, and to reserve space for future integration of quantum-resistant signatures. Shrincs recently proposed by researchers is a hash-based quantum-resistant signature scheme based on SHA-256, which can be used in conjunction with P2MR to allow users to proactively migrate their assets before the emergence of quantum computers with cryptographic capabilities ( CRQC ). However, none of the above approaches have been finalized yet; BIP-360 is still in draft stage, and the formal security proofs and independent reviews for Shrincs have not been completed either.
