French prosecutors in Rennes charge 4 suspects with kidnapping and ransoming for crypto assets

According to CoinMeta, as reported by franceinfo, the prosecution in Rennes, France, has officially charged four men suspected of being involved in a ransom case involving encrypted assets. Two of them have been detained pending trial. The incident occurred in April this year when the suspects broke into a residence in Ploudalm é zeau of the Finistère province, took control of a family of five, tied them up, and then forced the victims to hand over the passwords to their encrypted wallets. The prosecution stated that one male member of the family was active in the cryptocurrency sector. As reported by Le T élé gramme, the assets in the wallets involved were valued at approximately 700,000 euros.
