AI Optimizes the Cost of Quantum Attacks, Narrowing the Post-Quantum Migration Window for Bitcoin
2026-09-11 12:38:11
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Cryptopolitan, over 100 researchers have used AI coding proxies to reduce the quantum attack resource rating for Bitcoin's secp256k1 elliptic curve point addition subroutine by 86.1%, from 10.75 billion to 1.496 billion. Currently, approximately 6.04 million BTC coins are at risk due to exposed public keys, accounting for 30.2% of the circulating supply. Ethereum plans to achieve full quantum resistance by December 2029, while the Bitcoin community still needs to deal with about 1.7 million dormant P2PK coins held by suspected Satoshi.
