European Commission extends anti-money laundering regulations to crypto asset service providers
2026-09-10 08:18:55
According to CoinMeta, the European Commission has passed an authorization act that extends the "central contact point" ( ccp ) system to crypto asset service providers ( casps ), allowing regulatory authorities of member states to require crypto exchanges and other institutions to designate local contact officers in order to strengthen anti-money laundering supervision and communication with local authorities. This system was previously mainly applicable to electronic money institutions and payment institutions, and this adjustment means that crypto service providers will also be subject to similar local contact requirements.
