According to CoinMeta, a HyperLiquid user account was unauthorizedly controlled, with approximately 738,600 USDC being transferred away, and an additional 10,287 HYPE were released from pledge. The affected account belongs to a certain address, and some of the stolen funds flowed to addresses suspected to be related to Bitget. As of the time of verification, the 10,287 HYPE are still in the pledged balance and have not yet entered the withdrawal queue. If the attacker continues to initiate withdrawals, the relevant assets will be further transferred after a 7-day waiting period. In two recent similar cases, pledged assets were stolen a second time due to the lack of an emergency pause mechanism that users could trigger, resulting in losses exceeding $1.1 million. Relevant recommendations include implementing a guardian or recovery mechanism that users can enable in advance, which would only temporarily pause withdrawals, transfers, and authorization changes, and suspend automatic expirations. To resume, a time lock and evidence review, as well as recording on the blockchain, would be required.
