According to CoinMeta, Solana will undergo a major network upgrade on September 9th, with the new maximum transaction size increasing from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. This change may enable more complex operations within a single atomic transaction, representing an expansion of about 3.3 times. Solana, co-founder of Solana, mentioned that a single transaction requires "moving data through two zk in a fundamental way." He also noted that operations based on rollup might be possible on Solana. This upgrade not only increases the capacity for each transaction on the network but existing and v0 transactions will continue to operate according to the current rules. Developers will need to use v1 to access the additional capacity. The Solana test network has already received the upgrade, and trading on v1 will begin in September, just one month before the planned mainnet deployment. The Solana foundation pointed out that many workloads, including large multi-signature transactions, BLS signatures, Winternitz one-time signatures, and confidential transfers, could benefit from this additional space.
