PwC and German Merck Group test cocoa supply chain traceability system

According to CoinMeta, PwC, German Merck Group, and Hedera ecosystem enterprise The Hashgraph Group are testing a cocoa supply chain traceability system based on Hedera distributed ledger. This system uses physical anti-tampering markers and on-chain records to track the origin, quality, and compliance information of cocoa from farms to processing plants, to assist companies in meeting the due diligence requirements of the European Union regarding deforestation. The three companies stated that cocoa will be the first use case, and in the future, the related architecture can be extended to industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, luxury goods, electronics, and industrial components.
