Ethereum will support users paying gas fees with stablecoins
2026-09-08 02:34:33
According to CoinMeta, Ethereum has announced that it will allow users to pay gas fees using stablecoins, even if they do not have ETH in their wallets. As per EIP-8141, applications or other wallets can pay for ETH fees on behalf of users and charge them in stablecoins. This means that users can send stablecoins even if they do not possess ETH in their wallets. Additionally, framework transactions can combine approval and exchange into a single transaction, allowing users to upgrade wallet security without transferring funds to a new address, including protections against future quantum threats. This feature is planned to be launched during Ethereum's Hegot upgrade in 2027.
