According to CoinMeta, today's 30-year mortgage loan rates in the United States approached 7%, as rising Treasury yields and strong employment data increased the risk of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike. According to the Mortgage Daily Index, on September 4th, the average top 30-year fixed mortgage rate was 6.89%, up 1 basis point from the previous day. The 15-year fixed rate was 6.49%. The latest survey by Freddie Mac shows that the 30-year fixed rate averaged 6.71%, up from 6.66% the previous week. Employment reports indicated that the U.S. added 162,000 new jobs in August, with the unemployment rate remaining at 4.1%. Strong employment data drove up Treasury yields, increasing the expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike at its meeting on September 15-16.
