According to CoinMeta, Senegal has reached a preliminary agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a plan to resume lending to the country. The IMF froze financing for Senegal two years ago due to the discovery of billions of dollars in undisclosed loans. On Tuesday, the IMF stated that it had reached a three-year, $2.2 billion staff-level agreement with the Senegalese government, but it still requires approval from the IMF Executive Board. The Senegalese government indicated that it plans to use the improved framework of the G20 to restructure its debt. The main reform measures of the plan aim to restore the sustainability of public finances while protecting vulnerable families. In addition, the Senegalese government announced its intention to seek debt relief in order to restore debt sustainability.
