According to CoinMeta, a draft forecast by the Russian government indicates that due to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, Russia's oil production is expected to drop to its lowest level in 17 years in 2026, with adjustments also made to the forecasts for fuel exports for 2026 and 2027. These forecasts are expected to be finalized by the end of September and will be used in the budget preparation process. Compared to the forecasts released in May, the oil production forecasts for 2026 to 2029 have been lowered by 16 to 20 million tons. In its baseline forecast scenario, the government expects Russia's crude oil production to decrease by 17.2 million tons to 494.2 million tons, or 9.88 million barrels per day, which is the lowest level since 2009. It is anticipated that crude oil production will rebound to 500 million tons next year, but it will still be 16 million tons lower than previous forecasts. Production is expected to further increase in 2028 and 2029, although it will still be below the levels of 2025.
