According to CoinMeta, as reported by PeckShield, the number of crypto hacking incidents surged in August, reaching 50, an increase of 67% from 30 in July. Despite the rise in the number of incidents, the estimated losses decreased to 136.3 million US dollars, a reduction of 49.5% from approximately 270 million US dollars in July. Among them, the Tectonic incident accounted for 74 million US dollars, exceeding half of the total losses from PeckShield. Excluding Tectonic, the estimated losses for the remaining 49 incidents were about 62.3 million US dollars. PeckShield also noted that the Moonwell incident was the second-largest, with losses amounting to 8.7 million US dollars.
