Japan plans to invest 7.8 trillion yen in AI and the semiconductor sector

According to CoinMeta, Japan is making significant investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and economic independence. Tokyo plans to request a budget of 7.8 trillion yen (approximately $49 billion) for its Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, with the majority of this funds to be allocated to industries that Japan increasingly regards as key to economic security. Nearly 2 trillion yen will be designated for the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and robotics alone. In addition, 680 billion yen will be used to ensure the supply of critical minerals, including rare earths, and there will also be increased spending on fuel security and dual-use defense technologies. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga plans to achieve 370 trillion yen in public and private investment in strategic industries over the next 14 years.
