Goldman Sachs: Analysis of Oil Price Decline and Its Economic Impact
2026-08-31 21:26:56
According to CoinMeta, Goldman Sachs analysts Daan Struyven and Yulia Zhestkova Grigsby released a report stating that although oil prices soared to $120 per barrel in April due to the conflict in Iran, they have recently fallen back to around $83. The report indicates that the market has found ways to circumvent the conflict, leading to a gradual recovery in oil flows. Currently, the flow of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz is about 15 million barrels per day, which is still below pre-conflict levels. Goldman Sachs believes that the restoration of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz limits the risk of rising oil prices, and if this assessment holds true, the drag of energy on the U.S. economy will be alleviated in the second half of 2026.
