According to CoinMeta, on Monday, U.S. stock market futures fell due to the United States' first attack on Iran, which led to an increase in oil prices and raised market expectations for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates at its September meeting. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell by 0.1%, S&P 500 futures fell by 0.2%, and Nasdaq 100 futures fell by 0.1%. Hostile actions in the Middle East put pressure on the stock market as the U.S. attacked Iranian rocket launchers that were preparing to fire mines into the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices rose due to concerns that the conflict could escalate again, with Brent crude oil futures exceeding $88 per barrel. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh stated in his speech at Jackson Hole that inflation is too high and that the central bank still has "work to do." Over the weekend, traders increased their bets on the Federal Reserve raising interest rates by 25 basis points, from around 40% to 62%.
