According to CoinMeta, as reported by an early issuer of in, Iceland held a referendum on August 30th, where 52.8% of voters, totaling 105,339 votes, opposed resuming negotiations to join the European Union. As a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), Iceland is not currently automatically subject to EU MiCA regulations, and cryptocurrency activities are mainly governed by general financial laws. In the future, MiCA is expected to be incorporated into the EEA agreement, but there is no official timeline yet.
