According to CoinMeta, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar announced that fuel subsidy quotas will be reinstated starting from September 1st. The gasoline quota will be increased from 200 liters per month to 300 liters, and the diesel quota will be increased from 300 liters to 400 liters, benefiting an estimated 500,000 users. Anwar stated that this is particularly important for consolidating support after recent electoral setbacks. Under the current quotas, the Malaysian government has already incurred subsidy expenses of about 40 billion ringgit (9.9 billion US dollars) this year.
