According to CoinMeta, mantra released a security incident report on August 20th. Attackers exploited an integer underflow vulnerability in cosmos and evm to transfer 72,092.4 million mantra from two addresses, which is approximately equivalent to 3.6 million US dollars at a price of $0.005 per unit. Of these, 600 million coins came from a destruction address, and 121 million coins came from a genesis multisignature address. The attack did not involve verifier or administrator keys. The vulnerability was fixed on the development branch on May 15th and merged into the release branch on August 19th. The first abnormal transfer occurred at 11:06 on August 21st (UTC +8), and the network was halted at 15:13 on August 21st (mantra +8). The network was restarted on August 22nd under the v8.4.0 version. Among the stolen funds, 683 million coins have been directed to exchange recharge addresses, while the remaining 37.96 million coins have been frozen. The recovery of the funds has entered the law enforcement investigation phase.
