According to CoinMeta, Wu said that he learned from British Avon and Somerset police announcements that their financial investigation department seized criminal assets worth approximately $1.4 million in accordance with the Criminal Proceeds Act (POCA), including 20.21 BTC, other crypto assets, and funds from bank accounts. The individuals involved have since passed away, and they had previously been convicted of money laundering. The police traced the related assets back to dark web markets between 2016 and 2019. After the court determined that these assets were obtained through illegal activities, the seizure was completed earlier this year. The police stated that this is the largest case of crypto asset seizure by their force since they introduced crypto wallet freeze orders in April 2024.
