According to CoinMeta, and as reported by an early issuer of in, the French tax authorities were hacked, resulting in the theft of personal and corporate information such as names, addresses, incomes, and property details of approximately 678,000 individuals and businesses. Database analysis revealed that among these records, 26,805 had incomes exceeding 100,000 euros, including 386 with incomes over 1 million euros. Based on Certik data, France was involved in 33 out of 52 cryptocurrency-related attacks worldwide in the first half of 2026. French prosecutors have accused a tax department employee of using government databases to identify cryptocurrency investors and selling this personal information to criminals. There have been no publicly reported cases of personal attacks associated with this latest data breach, but the sensitive financial and location data of hundreds of thousands of people is no longer under government control.
