According to CoinMeta, 116 companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, and AMD jointly signed a letter on Thursday, calling on businesses and policymakers to give priority to cybersecurity and to "act decisively" to enhance defense capabilities in the era of artificial intelligence. The letter points out that "we have a limited window of time to strengthen cyber defenses" and urges each organization to "raise security standards," upgrade security systems, and utilize a combination of low-cost and cutting-edge models. It also calls for governments to coordinate efforts to provide funding for cyber defense and to improve access to critical infrastructure with insufficient resources, such as hospitals and water treatment plants, which have become major targets of attacks. Signatories include leaders in cybersecurity, financial services companies, semiconductor firms, and cloud service providers. As complex AI models have rapidly transformed the cybersecurity industry in recent months, there is an urgent need for better security tools to address the growing AI threats.
