According to CoinMeta, the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, Rados ł aw Piesiewicz, has been arrested in connection with an investigation into the crypto exchange ZondaCrypto. Prosecutors are investigating whether he received benefits from the person in charge of that exchange, Przemys ł aw Kral. Polish media reports that Kral once provided Piesiewicz with a Patek Philippe watch worth about 40,000 euros and other gifts in exchange for his assistance in resolving issues between ZondaCrypto and Poland's competition regulatory authorities. Piesiewicz denies receiving the watch as a gift, claiming that he purchased it with cash, and states that he only assisted in arranging the transaction. ZondaCrypto has been a major sponsor of the Polish Olympic Committee since 2026. A broader investigation into this exchange, which involves allegations of fraud and money laundering, began in April of this year, and by June, more than 3,600 complaints had been received.
