According to CoinMeta, amid the standoff between the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve over long-term borrowing costs, the price of Bitcoin has risen from $63,500 to around $81,250 in the past week, marking the largest weekly increase since March 2023. This rise occurred as investors shifted their funds towards Bitcoin and gold ahead of the upcoming Jackson Hole Symposium. On August 19, 2026, the Treasury Department announced that it would double the maximum scale of its long-term Treasury bond repurchase operations, from $2 billion to at least $4 billion. Subsequently, the yield on 30-year Treasury bonds rebounded from its initial decline to 5.247% within 24 hours, reaching the highest level since 2007. There are doubts in the market about whether the scale of the Treasury's repurchases is sufficient to have a lasting impact on the bond market, which supports over $40 trillion in U.S. Treasury bonds. Meanwhile, investors continue to favor hard assets, driving up the price of Bitcoin. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at Jackson Hole on August 28, and the market will closely monitor his remarks. Approximately 69% of Bank of America fund managers expect Warsh to take a neutral stance in his speech, and any significant changes could trigger a strong market reaction.
