Losses from crypto security incidents exceed $3.63 billion between 2025 and 2026

According to CoinMeta, based on early data from in, from January 2025 to July 2026, there were a total of 245 security incidents in the crypto sector, resulting in cumulative losses of over $3.63 billion. The top ten attacks accounted for more than 72.5% of the stolen funds. Vulnerabilities in the supply chain and infrastructure led to losses of over $1.8 billion for CEX and DEX. A common risk for CEX was private key leakage, while DApp saw about $546 million stolen due to smart contract vulnerabilities. Among the 147 incidents involving independent security audit platforms, the stolen funds constituted 88.44% of the total losses, with only about 11% of the incidents involving smart contract defects within the scope of the audits.
