According to CoinMeta, Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck announced that it officially completed the registration for the “electronic payment methods and other transaction services” license required for stablecoin operations on August 27, 2026, becoming the second institution in Japan to accomplish this license registration. Coincheck stated that it had previously reached a cooperation agreement with Circle in February 2024 to expand the adoption of USDC in the Japanese market. With the completion of this license registration, Coincheck will officially enter the field of stablecoins and on-chain finance, promoting the implementation of applications such as 24/7 low-cost cross-border transfers and payment settlements.
