According to CoinMeta, on August 26th, the US dollar strengthened due to rising yields, with the Australian dollar being the only currency that appreciated against the US dollar, by 0.18%. The New Zealand dollar, Swiss franc, and British pound performed the weakest. US data indicated steady economic growth, but inflation continued. In July, core PCE grew by 0.2% month-on-month and 3.3% year-on-year. Personal income and spending both exceeded expectations, although actual spending remained unchanged. In the second quarter, GDP remained at 1.5%, and consumer spending was raised to 3.4%. Durable goods orders increased by 1.1%, but the component of business investment was weaker. The overall data increased the Federal Reserve's challenge in balancing moderate growth with stubborn inflation. Yields in the US Treasury market generally rose, with a five-year Treasury auction selling for $70 billion, with the highest yield at 4.393%. Crude oil futures closed at $82.23, down slightly by 0.13%. Gold prices fell significantly by 1.44% due to the strengthening US dollar and rising yields. Bitcoin also declined slightly by 0.18%, to $78,392.
