Qualcomm Launches IMSDK 2.0: Bridging Generative AI with Multimedia to Accelerate Edge AI Application Development
2026-08-26 23:34:05
According to CoinMeta, Qualcomm has launched IMSDK 2.0, which is aimed at Qualcomm Dragonwing and Linux edge platforms. The goal is to simplify the integration of cameras, audio and video, sensors, AI inference, and cloud connectivity, thereby accelerating the deployment of smart cameras, robots, drones, and industrial AI products. IMSDK 2.0 introduces new features such as Python and C++ pipeline API, generative AI inference, containerized microservices, and AI programming proxies. It supports multiple inference runtimes, including Qairt, ONNX Runtime, and TFLite, allowing developers to switch between AI models without having to restructure their pipelines. This SDK is based on the GStreamer architecture and combines hardware acceleration plugins with multi-stream, multi-model pipeline capabilities. It supports applications in visual AI, audio AI, and text-to-image generation, and covers inference, analysis, and platform services. It also supports enterprise-level connections such as Kafka, MQTT, AWS IoT, and Azure IoT. Qualcomm states that this SDK has already been adopted by companies such as Samsung, Amazon, and Bose for product development.
