According to CoinMeta, Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad wrote a piece to refute the concerns of the Bankers Association of America regarding stablecoin rewards, stating that existing data does not support the claim that stablecoin platforms offering rewards will lead to a loss of community bank deposits and weaken local credit. He pointed out that from June 2019 to March 2026, community bank deposits grew by 26%, an increase of approximately $482 billion. Relevant research has also not found a significant relationship between stablecoins and bank deposits. Current laws already permit such rewards, and Coinbase has also been paying rewards to USDC users for over 4 years. Faryar Shirzad calls for maintaining the existing compromise and passing the Clarity bill, stating that this bill will grant banks new authorities such as custody, staking, lending, payment, settlement, and market-making.
