According to CoinMeta, Ukrainian authorities stated that their armed forces attacked a large refinery in Russia's Volga region. This is the latest incident in a series of recent attacks by Ukraine on Russia's petroleum processing industry. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces issued a statement stating that the attack caused a fire at the refinery near Nizhny Novgorod. The statement also mentioned, "Operations targeting key enemy targets continue." The refinery, named Norilsk (Norsi), has a designed capacity of about 340,000 barrels per day and is one of the largest refineries in Russia. Located about 440 kilometers from Moscow, this refinery is primarily responsible for supplying fuel to the Russian capital and surrounding areas, which are also the largest fuel-consuming regions in Russia.
