Perplexity releases Portable Computer: Running local models, subscription fees will still be charged as usual.

According to CoinMeta, Perplexity has released Portable Computer, allowing the entire computer agent to be run locally. Modeling, planning, tool invocation, task queuing, and file searching are all completed on the user's computer, so local tasks no longer consume Perplexity credits. It initially supports NVIDIA DGX Spark and can run Qwen 3.8 27b as well as PPLX 27b trained thereafter. When network searches, browser operations, or more advanced reasoning are required, 15+ cutting-edge models from the cloud can be called upon with the user's consent. Even though the models and computing power belong to the user, Portable Computer is still only available to subscribers of Pro and Max.
