Mateusz Kara: Polish virtual currency business faces regulatory difficulties
2026-08-25 23:32:38
According to CoinMeta, and as mentioned in a column article by Coindesk, the founder of Morphic Financial Group and also CEO Mateusz Kara stated that with the end of the EU's MiCA transition period on July 1st, the existing virtual currency business registration in Poland could no longer serve as a legal basis for continuation. Meanwhile, the implementation of domestic legislation has been delayed, putting local companies in a dilemma regarding regulatory authorization. The article notes that Poland previously had over 2000 registered VASP, but by the end of the transition period, no MiCA licenses had been issued. As a result, some companies may turn to other EU jurisdictions such as Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Kara believes that this could lead to a long-term outflow of Polish crypto enterprises, talent, and capital. However, they also argue that overall, this will help to enhance consumer protection and the institutionalization of Europe's crypto industry.
