Coldcard 87% of Bitcoins stolen by hackers remain untouched

According to CoinMeta, after the Coldcard hackers stole 17,892.8 bitcoins, more than 87% of those bitcoins remain untouched, with 1,561 bitcoins still under the control of the attackers. Researchers estimate the loss from this attack to be $114.7 million. Data tracked by Galaxy Research shows that the bitcoins involved, which were distributed across 8,865 addresses, were worth $114.7 million at the time of theft and are currently valued at approximately $138.8 million. The affected bitcoins had been in a dormant state for a long time before the theft, with the median dormancy period for these addresses being 3.2 years.
