Fox Business Reporter: Bessent's Intervention in the Bond Market Leads to Frictions with Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh
2026-08-25 15:59:49
According to CoinMeta, Fox Business reporter Charlie Gasparino pointed out that Besant attempted to lower the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds to around 4.3% through treasury bond repurchases and adjustments to the bond issuance structure in order to gain an advantage in the mid-term elections. The short positions held by CTA and trend-following strategy funds in the global bond market are estimated at approximately $155 million, and if prices rise, the amount needed to cover those positions could reach $155 million DV01. After the Treasury Department allocated $954 billion TGA in funds, the yield briefly fell. Besant's intervention displeased Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh and dampened his willingness to reduce the Fed's balance sheet.
