A gas station worker stated that people rush to refuel even before their tanks are completely empty. Since each car can only be filled with 20 liters of fuel, drivers are forced to return to the gas stations repeatedly. The U.S. sanctions have led to a shortage of fuel, causing panic among drivers, which indicates that the pressure of the war on Iran's economy is intensifying. Iran's national energy optimization organization has warned that Tehran is facing a "serious" oil shortage; the current supply of gasoline in Iran is 15 million liters less than the 135 million liters needed per day. This organization is responsible for managing Iran's oil resources. Iranian officials also mentioned that the fuel shortage is exacerbated by the subsidy system, under which the price of gasoline ranges from 15,000 to 50,000 rials per liter, while the government's purchase price is 1.3 million rials per liter. On Monday, the Iranian President's office stated that the government intends to reduce subsidy quotas, but a final decision on pricing has not yet been made.
