Attackers exploited a vulnerability to transfer nearly 3 billion tokens from TAC

According to CoinMeta, and based on official messages from TAC, on August 22nd, attackers exploited vulnerabilities in the Cosmos EVM and precompile layers to transfer approximately 2.986 billion TAC from a single account on TAC. TAC suspended its network at block height 24,671,475 to prevent further attacks and emphasized that this vulnerability is not specific to their code, but rather exists in a shared Cosmos EVM module. Other chains that use this module also encountered similar attacks within the past day. This incident was a case of asset transfer rather than a token issuance, so the total supply of TAC did not change, and no other assets besides the TAC tokens were affected. The team is working with Seal's 911 response team and exchanges to track the funds and plans to release a technical review and a network restart plan tomorrow.
