The oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz remains a mystery: U.S. data and market data are in conflict

According to CoinMeta, the Trump administration claimed that a large amount of oil was being transported through the Strait of Hormuz. However, tracking organizations responsible for monitoring global oil shipments found that the actual flow was far lower than this claim. U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry stated last week that the U.S. military assisted in transporting over 15 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products through this waterway on Tuesday. He mentioned that in the past seven days, the average daily oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz exceeded 8 million barrels. Earlier this month, Perry said that the average daily export volume was around 9 million barrels. However, data provided by commercial ship tracking organizations is quite different, with estimates ranging from 2 million to 6 million barrels per day. Industry data also indicates that the quantity of crude oil and petroleum products loaded in the Gulf of Persia and shipped to buyers does not support the U.S. claims.
