According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Yicai, HSBC Hong Kong and some Chinese-funded banks' branches in Hong Kong have recently initiated a process for mainland investors who have not made any transactions for a long time to provide statements regarding the source of their funds, setting deadlines such as August 20th and September 12th. A HSBC spokesperson stated that the bank complies with relevant regulatory requirements by inviting these mainland investors to provide self-declarations to confirm that their KYC information and customer due diligence data are up-to-date and valid. The aforementioned measures are based on a notice issued by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority on May 22nd.
