Goldman Sachs raises its forecast for China's semiconductor capital expenditure to $82 billion

According to CoinMeta, Goldman Sachs released a report on August 24th, raising its forecast for China's semiconductor capital expenditure in 2030 to $82 billion. The report indicates that by June 2026, China's self-sufficiency rate in semiconductors will reach 70%. Goldman Sachs expects the market size for Chinese chips to reach $678 billion in 2030 and $257 billion in 2028. In addition, China's spending on semiconductors is expected to grow by 13%, 20%, and 15% respectively from 2026 to 2028. Domestic equipment manufacturers' revenue share in the domestic market is set to increase to 38%. Goldman Sachs recommends Applied Materials, Laminate Technologies, and Onto Innovation.
