According to CoinMeta, and as reported by the Iranian news agency Mehr, Hassan Kashkavi, spokesperson for the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, announced on Sunday that the committee had adopted Article 3 of the "Strategic Action Plan for Ensuring the Security and Development of the Strait of Hormuz." Under this provision, Iran will charge fees for fuel supply, insurance, security, and other services under special circumstances. These fees will be imposed on vessels from countries permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and will be payable in rials or other currencies designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Kashkavi emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of the countries along the Strait of Hormuz and stressed that international laws and regulations not only recognize the freedom of navigation but also emphasize respect for the security and sovereignty of the coastal nations.
