Bitcoin puzzle hides wallet keys, originating from the data of the genesis block
2026-08-23 18:47:22
According to CoinMeta, an anonymous Bitcoin user embedded a 255-byte message in block 963,629 on August 22, 2026, announcing a wallet puzzle whose private key material is purportedly derived from Satoshi Nakamoto’s genesis block. Galaxy Research confirmed this transaction on August 23, and independent block data verified that Foundry USA mined that block at 19:45 on August 22. The message did not reveal the creator’s identity, any derivation formula, or a complete solution, and there was no verification evidence at the time of publication to indicate that anyone had solved the puzzle or claimed the advertised reward. The transaction contained a readable message in which the author stated, “I created a Bitcoin puzzle using information from Satoshi Nakamoto’s genesis block to generate a wallet.” The transaction fee was 250 satoshis, and its 255-byte payload accounted for more than half of the transaction’s original size.
