According to CoinMeta, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos acquired a 38% stake in Liverpool through an investor group for over 2 billion pounds. This transaction has valued Liverpool at approximately 5.5 billion pounds, representing a significant return for Fenway Sports Group since its acquisition in 2010 for around 300 million pounds. Fenway Sports Group will continue to maintain control of the club and its operations, indicating that this investment is not intended for immediate takeover. The investment was made through 1892, a group led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia, with members including the Mittal family trust, the family office of Liverpool co-founder Edward Savillin, and others. This investment unlocks over 2 billion pounds in value for Fenway Sports Group while maintaining control over one of the most valuable football brands in the world.
