U.S. Treasury yields rebound, challenging " Bessent put "
2026-08-21 13:20:42
According to CoinMeta, U.S. long-term Treasury yields rebounded in the second half of this week, with the 10-year yield rising to 4.704% and the 30-year yield climbing to 5.251%. However, whether yields will continue to rise depends on the confidence of bond market participants. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated that long-term debt repurchases could exceed $4 billion, a move similar to the strategy adopted by the Japanese central bank to defend the yen. Nevertheless, fundamental issues in the market remain unresolved, with high government spending and rising inflation expectations being the main factors driving up yields. Unless these two issues are addressed, Bessent's measures may only provide short-term relief.
